Join us for our annual summer brunch, where we'll meet, eat, elect and plan the upcoming year at the Trails Cafe at the base of Griffith Park. We will discuss the upcoming Grand Chapter Congress in Washington, DC and national elections, hold our own officer elections and plan a local "signature" event for alumni and collegiates for the coming year. Everyone and all ideas welcome!

Please note that this meetup originally scheduled for July 11 has changed to Saturday, July 25, same time and location. This was necessary to meet the schedules of our chapter officers with the added benefit of not conflicting with the Deltasig Vegas Weekender also taking place July 11. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you can still make it on July 25 - it is going to be a great morning of Brotherhood!!!

LOCATION: The Trails Cafe is located off of Los Feliz Blvd, just up Fern Dell Dr. We will be meeting OUTDOORS on the patio and the cafe offers up a tasty menu of homemade organic beverages, pastries, lunch treats and desserts, with lots of vegan options. CASH ONLY, NO CREDIT CARDS. Street parking available. See http://www.thetrailslosfeliz.com/ for a map and reviews.

Newly graduated Alumni are encouraged to attend and get involved. Don't lose your Deltasig connection... NOW is the perfect time to expand your professional network!

See you July 25 at The Trails!

WHAT'S AN ALL-CLASS FAMILY REUNION?
A day when ALL Deltasig alumni living in SoCal can bring their families and friends and reunite with their home chapters, meet other alumni, enjoy a fun picnic and renew their commitment to Delta Sigma Pi! This is also a perfect way for "transplanted" alumni - alumni from chapters outside of our SoCal regions - to get to know alumni in our area!

WHERE IS IT?
El Dorado Park WEST, between Spring and Willow off the 605, entrance on Studebaker. LOOK FOR SIGNS TO THE DUCKPOND. We'll be set up near the duckpond close to the big bandshell-stage. Look for the red pop up and greek letter banner.

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES?

Bring-your-own-picnic-basket-and-blanket
Everyone brings their own lunches so no one has to cook and we form the largest Deltasig picnic blanket ever for our group photo. This keeps the cost for the chapters down and everyone enjoys their own home-cooked (or store-bought) food!

The host chapters provide beverages and ice cream - yum!

Kid-friendly activities
Your kids (and some adults) will enjoy the duckpond, balloon toss and face painting, etc.

You can enter the first annual SoCal Deltasig Cookie Bake-Off
Bring 2 dozen of your best cookie recipe and the Vice Presidents of Alumni Relations from each of our host chapters will judge (eat) the cookies and award prizes for the top cookies!

You can help make history!
The chapters will bring their family trees and history books to be displayed in the SoCal Deltasig History Tent - bring your own scrapbooks or copies of photos to donate and help fill out missing branches of your family trees. This is your opportunity to reconnect with your chapters and tell all of your favorite old stories (we have a captive audience!)

Meet your local Alumni Chapters
We've invited Orange County and Inland Empire Alumni Chapters to join us and we'll all have program materials on hand. Plus you can help make a difference by donating to our local South Pacific Region Scholarship and Educational Fund (tax deductible through the National Leadership Foundation) - awarding its second annual scholarship this summer to a deserving collegiate brother in need.

ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
Noon - Check in and get your nametag, setup your picnic blanket and check out the activities
12:30pm - Picnic!
1:30pm - SoCal Deltasig Cookie Bakeoff judging begins
2:00pm - Group photo to submit to THE DELTASIG national magazine
2:30pm - Cookie Bakeoff awards presented and other special presentations, everyone has more fun
4:00pm - Go home!

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
Because all chapters need help reaching out to local alumni and
IN UNION THERE IS STRENGTH!

As you may know, National Alumni Appreciation Day falls on Friday, April 25, so we decided that the second annual Worldwide Deltasig Alumni Meetup Day (WWDAMD) would coincide perfectly with Natl Alumni Day by becoming a 24-hour event competition (learn more about WWDAMD below). Last year's local WWDAMD ice cream social event at Fosselman's Ice Cream Parlor in Alhambra was a big success, and since so many alumni have families or are interested in seeing alumni from their classes, AND since most collegiate chapters plan events for Natl Alumni Day anyway, we thought we could pool our efforts and plan ONE BIG EVENT for all collegiate and all alumni chapters on one day! If we can get over 250 alumni to attend, imagine what this would do for EVERY chapter's alumni programs!

So that's it! Mark your calendars and join us for the biggest and best alumni event all year long! Questions? E-mail your meetup organizers Rochelle or Jim.

See you on April 26 to celebrate Alumni!
Fraternally,
The LA Alumni Chapter and all chapters of Southern California

LEARN MORE ABOUT WWDAMD AT OUR INCIRCLE GROUP!
Worldwide Deltasig Alumni Meetup Day was founded by the LA Alumni Chapter in 2007 to help alumni chapters host a nationally-promoted event and encourage all alumni to make the commitment across the globe to meetup on one day to celebrate brotherhood. Last year over 10 alumni chapters participated across the US and the prize
for best attendance was awarded to LA (well, we did come up with the concept!). So this year, we have planned the date in conjunction with National Alumni Appreciation Day and chapters in LA, Denver, Kansas City, San Antonio and more are already planning their WWDAMD events! See what other alumni and collegiate chapters
are planning across the US for Worldwide Deltasig Alumni Meetup Day by visiting our online group at the national fraternity's private social networking space (and update your fraternity profile) at:

STEEP
USA, 2007, 92 min, 35 MM (Documentary Showcase). 6:30pm - Theatre 11
STEEP takes us inside the world of big-mountain skiing from its beginning in the 1970s in the mountains above Chamonix, France, to its future in remote Alaskan and Icelandic peaks. Highlighting the best of the best of this rare breed of men and women who attempt ski descents where the slightest mistake can mean death, STEEP tells a tale of bold adventure, exquisite athleticism and the pursuit of a perfect moment on skis.

In French with English subtitles
Made in conjunction with the Musee d'Orsay, and inspired by Albert Lamorisse's classic family film LE BALLON ROUGE, master filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien moves away from his usual investigations of Taiwanese identity, both historical and contemporary, and visits contemporary Paris. Starring Juliet Binoche, the result is a subtle meditation on the themes of alienation and life as an outsider.
